Three weeks after a deluge left large parts of Mumbai submerged, Mumbai has once again been caught in a heavy downpour. This time around, the city has received 303.7mm of rainfall between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Massive waterlogging has been reported in areas of Borivali, Sion, Hindmata in Dadar, Goregaon, Andheri, Kandivali, Malad, Kharghar, Mankhurd and Bhandup. As many as 56 flights have been diverted to different airports, while five Western Railways trains have also been cancelled. Six more Central Railways trains have been diverted and cancelled.

Fishermen have also been warned against venturing into the deep sea. While there is still vehicular movement, the city’s two major roads- the Eastern Express Highway and the Western Express Highway, have slowed to a crawl.

The downpour has been so significant that schools have been shut as a result. “Schools and colleges have been shut in view of the heavy rainfall. This holiday will be compensated in Diwali,” reported PTI.
