The popular Indian multinational sweets, restaurant, and snack company, Haldiram is trending on the Internet after a news channel report claimed that the company used Urdu description for falhari namkeen that is used in Navratri.

The incident went viral on social media and also divided the Internet.

The Haldiram row began after a video of a news reporter circulated on social media wherein a reporter can be heard asking Haldiram staff about the description that is written in Urdu on the namkeen packet.

After the video went viral, a section of netizens started raising their voice against the company and demanded to boycott the Haldiram.

Fact check about the language written on the namkeen packet:

Several reports claimed that the description at the back of the namkeen is written in Urdu.

During the fact check, it is revealed that the description is written in Arabic. While the main text is in the English language. The package also displays the green vegetarian symbol.

As per the description written on the back of the namkeen packet, it contains a sweet mingle of peanuts and potatoes with mild spices.

The falhari namkeen is consumed by people who are fasting during the ongoing Hindu festival, Navratri.

A segment of netizens said that everyone should boycott Haldiram. One of the users questioned, “There is no problem with Urdu... Problem is why urdu is mentioned on hindus fasting products... Is #Haldiram outsourcing the products from third party and whose
manufacturers are muslims..?”

“Haldiram should be banned. I request all the hindus to boycott all the product of Haldiram,” another commented.

While the other section slammed the news channel and reporter for defaming the company. Several users extend their support to Haldiram and said that it also export its products to the Gulf countries that’s why they use the Arabic language.

“Ye #Haldiram waalo ne Urdu/Arabic mein kuch likh diya to kya problem
hai...? They export to multiple countries....apna khaana wahan bahut bikta
hai..to ye to khush hone ki baat hai...” a user wrote on Twitter.
