Gujarat: Father rapes 14-year-old daughter several times, threatens wife

In another shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped several times by her father over the last nine months in Gujarat’s Vadodara district. The accused was taken into custody after a complaint by the victim on Tuesday.

Eldest among the three siblings, the victim, in her complaint said that her father, a 38-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, used to sexually assault her when she would be alone in the house. He also threatened to kill her mother and siblings whenever she objected, she added.

According to The Times of India, the crime came to light when the 14-year-old missed her periods, following which her mother questioned her. The teenager narrated her ordeal to her mother.

The mother, after coming to know about the shocking act, confronted her husband. He, instead of admitting to the heinous crime, threatened her with dire consequences and told her to not disclose it to anyone.

“The girl’s mother wanted to lodge a complaint, but the accused threatened her with dire consequences and pressurized her not to do so. However, the mother-daughter duo gathered courage and approached us,” a police official told TOI.

In accordance to the complaint filed by the victim, police arrested the accused and booked him for rape and criminal intimidation under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have also been pressed against him.
