Grandmother sets ablaze newborn baby alive; know why

A horrific case was reported from Tamil Nadu’s Sankarankovil area where a half-burnt body of the newborn baby was found on the premises of a theatre. The incident came to light at 4 am on Wednesday, when some passengers saw flames on roads when they doused the flames they were shocked to find a body of an infant.

As per TimesNow reports, the locals then immediately informed the police who arrived at the spot and sent the body for an autopsy. The police then started an investigation and took the help of sniffer dog to solve the case.

The sniffer dog ran about 300 meters from the spot where the infant’s body was found to a house of a 22-year-old woman. Initially, the police suspected that the infant was set ablaze as he was stillborn, however, later investigation revealed that the infant was born alive.

During the further probe, the police got to know that 22-year-old woman had an affair with a man and during which she got pregnant. The woman took tablets to abort the child, however, in vain, so after nine months on Wednesday she gave birth to a baby at around 2 am at her house.

After the birth, the baby’s grandmother (accuse) wrapped the baby in a cloth and took it to the theatre and set the infant on ablaze. Police have arrested both infant’s grandmother and father. Grandmother has been booked under Section 315 (act done with intent to prevent a child being born alive or cause it to die after birth) and father under section 109 (abetment of an offence) of IPC. While the 22-year-old woman has been sent to a government hospital as she was weak due to delivery.
