Good News! Indian Railways starts this facility for passengers to book unreserved general ticket

Indian Railways has given relief to its passengers by re-starting its facility that allows passengers to book Unreserved General tickets.

According to Indian Railways, the tickets for unreserved general can be booked through UTS ON MOBILE app.

Indian Railways has said that places where unreserved train services are introduced on any zonal Railway, would accordingly enable the UTS ON Mobile app for booking unreserved tickets.

While in suburban sections, the app facility may be reintroduced on non-suburban sections, the same may also be reintroduced on non-suburban sections of zonal Railways.

During the COVID-19 unlock phase, the Railways has started almost 65 percent of its mail trains while over 90 percent of its suburban services as compared to the pre-lockdown levels.

Who can install UTS ON MOBILE app:

The mobile app can be downloaded by both Android and iPhone.

How it works:

To use the app, a user has to activate GPS. One can book general tickets within a 5 km radius of any railway station. A passenger will get a PNR number after booking the general ticket from the UTS ON MOBILE app.

How many tickets can be booked?

A user can book 4 tickets on one PNR number. While the payment of the ticket can be made via online mode.

Steps to use:

1. Passengers need to download the UTS app from Google PlayStore.
2. Enter your name, mobile number, and other information.
3. Register yourself
4. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number
5. Submit the OTP number
6. An ID and password of the UTS app will be sent on the passenger mobile phone
7. With the help of an ID and password one can book the ticket.

When it was introduced?

In 2018, the Indian Railways introduced the UTS ON MOBILE app facility for its passengers to book and cancelling unreserved/general tickets.

While the North Central Railway had launched the 'UTS on Mobile App' for cashless, paperless, and queue-free booking of unreserved tickets.
