Goa shocker: Man rapes British woman on holiday with her husband

In a horrifying incident reported from Goa, a British woman was raped at Arambol Sweet Water Beach in north Goa last week. Police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the crime.

Police told PTI that the accused is a local resident. After he saw a British woman relaxing at the beach on 2nd June, he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The victim, who was in Goa on a holiday with her husband, reported the horrifying incident to the police on Monday. The complaint was registered and police have started an investigation.

The accused was arrested the same day and is in police custody. Further probe into the matter is in process.

In another incident, A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 23-year-old man when she had gone to a birthday party. The incident comes in the thick of the high-profile case of the rape of a minor in Hyderabad, in which the sons of politicians have been named as accused.

The victim, an orphan, who stayed at a childcare facility, went to a classmate’s birthday party on Necklace Road. However, she didn’t tell the hostel’s warden about this and told her that she was going to her college with other girls from the hostel.

At the birthday party, the victim met another friend, identified as Suresh, who worked at a stationery shop. The girl had made Suresh’s acquaintance earlier and would meet quite often. Suresh had even gifted her a cell phone.

As maintained in the police complaint lodged by the hostel warden, during the party on April 20, Suresh asked the girl to accompany him to the parking lot to talk about something. However, once they got there, Suresh allegedly forced the girl inside a car and raped her.

A complaint was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the accused was taken into custody.
