Delhi woman gang-raped by autorickshaw driver, three others
In a shocking incident of crime reported from the national capital, an auto-rickshaw driver has been taken into police custody for allegedly involvement in the gang-rape of a woman in Delhi’s ITO area, police said on Sunday.
The victim, aged 27, in her statement to cops, had alleged that she was raped by the autorickshaw driver and three others near ITO after she boarded the vehicle from the Khajuri Khas area in Delhi for Kashmere Gate on early Saturday.
The driver then dropped her at Kashmere Gate, the woman had told the police. According to the police, the victim is a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal and had come to Delhi for some work.
The victim has complained that she was taken to a room near ITO Yamuna bridge where she was gang-raped, a police officer stated.
In the time of interrogation, the autorickshaw driver claimed that he had only called one of his friends but the woman alleged that there were two more men there, he said.
On the basis of the victim's complaint at the IP Estate police station, a case of gang rape was registered and her medication examination was also carried out, the officer said.
The victim is stated to be stable. Raids are being carried out to trace and arrest the absconding accused, police said.
