Delhi woman claims 14-year-old daughter raped in moving bus, conductor nabbed

A horrifying incident that came to light on Thursday, a woman alleged that her daughter, aged 14, was raped in a bus while they were travelling from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

The woman said the incident took place at night after she got inside the bus at the Badarpur border at around 11:30 pm. She was on the way to Shikohabad with her minor daughter and 18-year-old niece.

Furthermore, the woman claimed that the conductor of the bus and a helper behaved badly with her during the journey, the Times of India reported on Thursday.

The woman also claimed that the bus conductor raped her daughter when all the passengers had gotten off the bus for refreshments. The woman said she too had gone out to use the washroom. Later when she got back to the bus, she was unable to find her daughter there.

"After some time, I saw my daughter. She was crying. She told me the conductor had raped her. I told other passengers about it. When I asked to stop the bus, the driver did not listen. We had crossed 20-25 km on the Yamuna Expressway by then," the woman was quoted as saying.

The woman further stated that the conductor and the helper deboarded the bus between Maant and Jewar toll plaza.

"It was then I called my son and brother-in-law who then pulled over the bus (in Firozabad)," she said.

According to the ASP, Akhilesh Narayan Singh, FIR was registered on Tuesday and the accused was taken into police custody on rape charges under the Pocso Act.

The accomplice of the accused was also charged for assault with intent to outrage modesty, police said.
