Delhi Violence: Shahrukh Khan, who openly threatened policeman Deepak Dahiya with gun was never arrested
After reports suggesting that the Delhi Police have apprehended the man who had allegedly fired eight rounds in the air during violence in northeast Delhi, it surfaced on Thursday that he was never taken into custody.
At the same time, a senior official in Delhi Police revealed that they were conducting raids at the possible safe house of Shahrukh Khan.
The 27-year-old had allegedly fired eight rounds in the time of violence at northeast Delhi’s Maujpur area and also pressed the country made pistol to the chest of a policeman.
The video of him brandishing the pistol had gone viral. As a matter of fact, the pictures of him holding the gun too started doing rounds on the internet.
According to The Indian Express, a police official said that the father of Shahrukh Khan is a local drug peddler and has been incarcerated many times for his activity.
He is believed to be a relative of criminal Irfan alias Chhenu Pehalwan, who is already in jail.
The newspaper has quoted an officer as saying that the decision to apprehend Shahrukh was dropped as senior officer of Eastern range were occupied dealing with violence. This gave Shahrukh enough time to flee. His family members are absconding too.
According to one of his friends, Shahrukh has a passion for bodybuilding and used to go to a gym in Yamuna Vihar area.
Previously, the Delhi Police transferred the probe into North-East violence to the crime branch. Two Special Investigation Teams headed by deputy commissioners of police Joy Tirkey and Rajash Deo will investigate the matter.
"The situation in northeast Delhi is normal right now and no untoward incident has been reported today. Sufficient force has been deployed in every area and senior officers are monitoring the situation. The numbers of distress calls have also reduced. We have received calls on the two helplines which we released on Wednesday. Forty-eight FIRs have been registered. We have evidence and are registering more FIRs. We have conducted around 350 meetings with Aman Committee in whole Delhi, specifically in northeast district," Delhi Police PRO Mandeep Singh Randhawa said.
