Delhi: Shocking! 27 children including two infants being trafficked, rescued in a police raid

In a police raid conducted on Tuesday, twenty-seven-children including two infant were rescued from a house in northwest Delhi’s Shakurpur by the Delhi police along National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and an NGO.

According to the police officials, these children were trafficked from Assam, West Bengal and Odisha and hidden in two dingy rooms of the four-storey building. So far, the police arrested four of the seven traffickers who were keeping a watch over the children. The rest of them were on the run.

The police seize four registers in which there wire records of many children. Those who were arrested were identified as Murari, Qutab Mudeen, Ibrahim and Sarfaraz. They were running a gang with the three others for the past few years. In the prima facie, there is no sign of sexually assaulting the children.

“The rescue was possible only after a deep undercover investigation. The team has also retrieved Aadhaar cards and biodatas of children rescued from the location, which would be helpful in reuniting them with their families,” said Dhananjay Tingla, excutive director of Bachpan Bachao Andolan.

It was Priyank Kanoongo, member (Education) of NCPCR, who helped the Delhi police to bust the racket. The police conducted a raid on the house and found it locked. They broke open the door after there was no response from inside despite continuous knocking. The children were found locked on the first floor in two separate rooms.
