Delhi man shot in head by wife's brother over interfaith marriage
In a shocking incident reported from the national capital’s Model Town, a man was shot at by his wife’s brother, who was allegedly disconcerted over their inter-faith wedding, police said on Sunday.
The victim has been identified as Deva, aged 26, a gym instructor by profession and a native of Adarsh Nagar. He had tied the knot with a Muslim woman, identified as Hina, three months back. The woman's family members were reportedly upset over their marriage.
As maintained by the police, the incident occurred on Saturday when cops discovered Deva lying on the street with bullet injuries near Shalimar Park in the Model Town area.
The victim had two bullet injuries -- one on the chest and another on the forehead. He was rushed to a hospital. It is said that the victim’s condition is critical.
During investigation, it was unveiled that the victim (Deva) was called by his brother-in-law Shahnawaz on the pretext of meeting him. Deva came to Model Town on a bike along with two others, including Shahnawaz. Both the pillion riders shot at him with country-made gun and escaped.
The police have taken both the accused in the case into their custody. The accused have been identified as Shahnawaz and Hrithik. Two country-made pistols, live cartridges and Deva’s Royal Enfield bike were also recovered from them.
A case of attempt to murder has been lodged against the two accused, the police said.
