Delhi: Man burnt alive as parked car catches fire
In a shocking incident, a man was charred to death after his parked SUV caught fire in the Alipur area of Delhi on October 24. The deceased person has not been identified yet.
As per the fire department, they received the call around 7:30 am. The caller informed the officials that a car (Kia Seltos) had caught fire at Palla Road. Three fire tenders rushed to the spot. The flames were doused after an hour of effort.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Devesh Kumar Mahala, the SUV was parked on the roadside and suddenly caught fire. The police officials recovered some burnt clothes from the spot.
As per a cop privy to the investigation, the fire was so intense that the body of the victim was completely charred and only bones were left. "We have got the number plate of the vehicle. During inquiry, we found that the car was registered in the name of a person who lives in Kurukshetra. We have sent our team to the place for further inquiry," he said.
An initial probe revealed that the SUV’s ignition was on when it caught fire. The forensic team also took a few exhibits for examination from the spot.
Further investigation is underway.
This is the second such incident reported in past few weeks. In the last week of September, a man was burnt alive after his car caught fire in the Kanjhawala area. The incident took place on the road from Majra Dabas to Jatkhod.
