Delhi horror: 8 year-old girl gang-raped, battles for life in hospital
In a horrifying incident of crime reported from Delhi, an 8-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by two juveniles at Shastri Park, police said on Tuesday.
The victim has suffered critical injuries and is fighting to stay alive at a hospital in the national capital. The cops have now taken two juveniles into their custody.
The grisly episode happened on Monday when the victim had gone out to play with her friends, according to a report in PTI. However, the accused enticed the minor victim to his residence on the pretext of playing and allegedly raped her along with his friend.
In the meantime, the Delhi Commission for Women has sent out a notice to the police seeking swift action against the perpetrators.
According to DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal, "The 8-year-old girl has been brutally raped and is in unimaginable pain as she is battling for her life in ICU due to severe damages caused to her private parts. The people gang-raping an 8-year-old are not humans! The strongest punishment needs to be given to the guilty".
The crime came into view after the minor victim reached home and complaint of severe stomach pain. The girl's parents came to know that she was injured and bleeding.
As maintained by police, the girl's mother has registered a police complaint and a case has been lodged under sections of kidnapping, rape and POCSO. Furthermore Police said the child was sent for medical after counselling by the Child Welfare Committee.
The DCW in a statement stated that, "Due to her critical condition, the girl was immediately rushed to a government hospital where she underwent surgery and her condition continues to remain critical as she is currently being treated in the ICU."
