Delhi metro crime: Civil Engineer arrested for flashing at woman in metro train
The man who allegedly flashed his genitals at a woman in Delhi metro, arrested by Delhi Metro Rail Police on Saturday.
The accused identified as Abhilash Kumar, a resident of Sector 22 and he is a civil engineer. He worked at a private company in Gurugram. He is a native of Karnala and works at a private company in Gurugram and is unmarried.
The Delhi Police said, “The accused involved in molestation of a woman in which he flashed his private parts, has been arrested in the case registered at PS Ghitorni. His name is Abhilash Kumar. He is a civil engineer and worked at a private company in Gurugram. Interrogation and investigations are on.”
On Saturday, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Saturday said that the suspect in the Sultanpur case was traced by DMRC Security Cell and people at Automatic Fare Collection(AFC) gates.
He had recharged his Contactless Smart Cards (CSC) online with his mobile phone number which helped the security cell to trace him.
The Delhi Metro Rail Police (DMRP) has taken him into custody from Gurugram, Haryana.
The DMRC took to Twitter and wrote, "We request the public to use the passenger emergency alarm button if they notice any suspicious behavior and inform the train operator immediately. Please also give the coach number that you are travelling in so that the person can be apprehended at the earliest."
The Delhi Commission For Women (DCW) had on Friday issued notices to the Delhi Police and the DMRC after the woman had alleged that she was harassed in the metro train.
She had also filed a case against the man for his obscene behavior in Delhi metro, DMRC authorities said on Saturday.
Earlier this week, the shocking case came to light when a woman revealed her ordeal on social media and alleged that a man standing and facing her had flashed genitals. This shameful incident took place when the woman was returning to Gurugram in a metro train on the Yellow Line.
