Dead niece on shoulder; Madhya Pradesh man walks on busy road to bus stop [Watch]
A man in Madhya Pradesh carried the corpse of his four-year-old niece, who lost her life in an accident, and took a bus to his village because he could not get an ambulance from a hospital. A video of the man walking on a busy road towards the bus stop and boarding a crowded bus with the body has now gone viral.
The four-year-old had died in her village and her body was sent for autopsy to the district hospital in Chhatarpur. But returning to their village with her dead body turned out to be a grim experience for her uncle, who was already grieving.
With her body on his shoulder, he wandered in search of a transport. He could not find a government transport and could not afford a private car, so he walked to the bus stop and took a bus to his village.
He didn't even have enough cash for the bus ticket. Another passenger paid his fare.
Retracting the role of doctors in such matters, Chief Medical Health Officer Lakhan Tiwari said it is the job of the Urban Development department to make arrangements for the transport of bodies. "I request people not to drag the hospital and its doctors into this," he said.
The disturbing footage has surfaced nearly four months after a four-year-old girl's body was carried by his family on their shoulders. Both the incidents happened in Chhatarpur, this highlightes the lack of medical facilities in the district.
