Coronavirus: 55-year-old suspected Covid-19 patient dies after trying to escape from sixth floor isolation ward in Haryana
A 55-year-old man, suspected coronavirus patient in Haryana died in an attempt to break loose from the sixth floor quarantine ward of a hospital.
The man fell down from a window of Kalpana Chawla Medical College in Karnal at approximately 4 am on Monday. He had made a rope using bedsheets and plastic and was trying to climb down, said the police.
The man who hailed from Panipat, had been admitted on 1st April and was in the quarantine ward, according to doctors, he had been quarantined although he had not exhibited any symptoms of coronavirus.
His test results were yet to arrive.
The incident has brought up questions on security at the quarantine ward.
Haryana so far has 84 cases of Covid-19, including one death. On Sunday, a 58-year-old man from Karnal, who had tested positive for Sars-CoV-2, lost his life at the PGIMER hospital.
Total number of coronavirus cases in India surged to 4,298 and 118 people have lost their lives.
