Chhattisgarh: IAS officer accused of raping school teacher’s wife; case registered
A rape case has been registered against the IAS officer in Chhattisgarh. The complaint was filed by the state’s former elected representative.
The accused man was a 2007 batch IAS officer who was posted as the collector of Janjgir district in the central Chhattisgarh for a few days.
The victim woman complained that the IAS officer raped her while he was serving there. However, he was later transferred to Raipur as Director, Land Records.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections 376, 506 (b) at the Janjgir Kotwali against the accused IAS officer on the basis of the complaint made by the victim and the evidence submitted by her,” said Superintendent of Police, Janjgir, Parul Mathur.
On the other hand, the victim’s medical examination has been conducted. Police will conduct further investigation into the case and then decide whether an arrest should be made or not.
According to India Today reports, the victim’s husband is a school teacher and the woman complained that the accused collector also threatened her that if she didn’t submit to his demand then he would ensure that her husband will be terminated from his service.
Notably, the victim woman was a former member of the janpad panchayat and had also contested in the recent panchayat elections for the post of sarpanch but she faced defeat in the election.
Moreover, the victim has also submitted the written proofs against the collector to the police and photographs that had been shared on the mobile phone.
