Bus Crisis Hits Commuters: Long Awaited Relief Turns into a Distant Dream
Dungarpur (Rajasthan) : In the Chikhli sub-division, the suspension of bus services on the Sagwara-Chikhli, Peeth, and Simlavada-Dungarpur routes has put commuters in a spot. Locals have lamented that the bus service, operated by the Banswara Depot, had been connecting Simlavada for several years, catering to the daily commute of students, employees, labourers, and the general public. However, the bus service was abruptly stopped a week ago, leaving passengers in a state of distress. As a result, people are forced to use private vehicles, adding to their woes.
Similarly, the bus service operated by the Udaipur Depot, which connected Udaipur to Kuwan, was also shortened to terminate at Chikhli, causing inconvenience to the people of Kuwan and surrounding areas. During the pandemic, all six daily bus services from the district headquarters to Simlavada, Kuwan, Chikhli, and Galiakot were suspended and have not been reinstated since then. As a result, senior citizens and women, who are entitled to a concession on travel fares, are not able to avail of this benefit.
Locals have demanded the resumption of all suspended bus services.
