Bizarre! This UP mobile store offers 1 kg onion on purchase of smartphone
The price of onion has created chaos among the common man due to which government and other people tried to curb this problem.
One of the bizarre examples has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur, where a mobile store owner has introduced a gimmick that could be fruitful for people who are crying due to onion price.
Suraj Gupta of Suraj Mobile Centre has brought an innovative scheme to lure in more customers.
According to the media reports, he installed a poster outside his store which stated that Gupta is offering one kilogram of onions free with every purchase of an Android smartphone. This bizarre news broke out when a journalist named Piyush Roy shared the video on Twitter.
The video showed the message written on the poster and also showed the packets of one kg of onion kept on the counter of the store along with an Android phone.
Piyush captioned the video, “A mobile shop owner in UP's Hapur district has come up with a unique offer. Buy any Android phone and get 1 kg of onion free. Retail prices of onions continue to be between Rs 100-120 in UP markets.”
In another video, Suraj Gupta, the shop owner said that the gimmick has worked for him as his sales increased after this offer.
The reason behind the spike in onion price is due to the incessant rain and flood-like situation that has affected the onion producing states like Maharashtra, Karnataka.
Because of the soaring price, many incidents have come to light where onion crops were stolen from farmer's field.
