Bhilwara: Mosquito-borne Diseases Surge as Authorities Sleep

Bhilwara: Mosquito-borne diseases are continuously spreading in the city, but the municipal corporation is not taking any concrete steps to prevent them. The streets and main roads are littered with garbage, providing a breeding ground for mosquitoes, which are causing diseases among the people. The number of patients suffering from mosquito-borne diseases is increasing in hospitals.

The municipal corporation is only doing photo-ops in the name of fogging, and the health department is not taking the situation seriously. The Collector had given instructions to the municipal corporation to carry out fogging, but it seems that the corporation is not taking any concrete steps.

In the rainy season, fogging is essential to prevent mosquito-borne diseases in urban areas. Water is accumulating in plots, and mosquitoes are breeding. The owners of these plots should be issued notices and fines should be imposed. Anti-larva and anti-adult activities, source reduction activities, and MLO sprinkling activities should be carried out. However, none of these activities are being done in Bhilwara district.

Photography Marking Mosquito Day

Recently, the health department celebrated World Mosquito Day, but only photography was done in the name of source reduction, anti-larva, and anti-adult activities. There was no seriousness shown towards creating awareness about mosquito-borne diseases.

Patients Increasing in MG Hospital

The number of patients suffering from mosquito-borne diseases is increasing in Mahatma Gandhi Hospital. The hospital administration is having to make extra arrangements to accommodate the patients. The number of patients in the outdoor department has crossed 3,000, and more than 500 patients are being admitted to the indoor department.

Fogging Being Done

CMHO Dr Chetendra Puri Goswami said that the municipal corporation is carrying out fogging on the instructions of the Collector. Fogging was recently carried out in the Labour Colony. However, when we tried to contact the Municipal Commissioner, it was not possible.
