Amit Malviya's jibe at Congress presidential election: 'Tharoor sacrificial lamb, Gehlot …’
Amit Malviya, BJP's Information and Technology Cell chief on September 25 took a jibe at the upcoming Congress presidential election by saying that Shashi Tharoor, who is all set to file his nomination for the party’s chief post, is a mere sacrificial lamb and Ashok Gehlot is the new regent.
He also termed the All India Congress Committee (AICC) president polls as 'hogwash'.
Malviya's fresh attack came ahead of the Congress legislature party's crucial meeting in Rajasthan today. During the meeting, the grand old party is expected to discuss the change in the government in Rajasthan.
“Why is the Congress going through the motions of electing a new CM in Rajasthan unless Ashok Gehlot’s coronation as President is a done deal even before the nominations? This election is a hogwash. Someone tell Tharoor that Gehlot is the new regent and he a mere sacrificial lamb,” Malviya tweeted.
Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor became the first official candidate for the upcoming Congress presidential poll after his representative collected the nomination letter yesterday.
On the other hand, Ashok Gehlot has also announced that he will contest the election for the party’s top post.
However, Congress leaders have kept the Rajasthan CM ahead of Tharoor as the Thiruvananthapuram MP is closely associated with the rebel G-23 group.
