While speaking to People Magazine, Menounos told that she was diagnosed with a tumor in April, and is still recovering from the seven-hour surgery that successfully removed almost all of the tumor.

Her mother, Litsa Menounos, is also battling brain cancer.

Adam Stotsky, president of E! Entertainment, issued a statement, which said, "Our thoughts and support go out to Maria and her family and we wish them all the best knowing that Maria will tackle this with the same fierce dedication she is known for. We are grateful for Maria's many contributions to E! over the past three years," as quoted by E! Online.

The diagnosis came after Menounos began feeling lightheaded on set and suffering from headaches and slurred speech in February.

The 39-year-old has been with E! News for the past three years. Before that, she worked as a correspondent for Access Hollywood and Today, and a co-anchor on Extra.
