Fast and Furious 8 overshadows Begum Jaan at the box-office in India!
Fast and Furious 8 is on a fantastic run at the box-office in India as the film raked in approximately Rs 11.50 crore on Friday taking the two and a half day total to Rs 27 crore.
It was indeed a ‘Good Friday’ for the film as it recorded good footfalls across the country. The biz is expected to stay on the higher stand on Saturday and Sunday as well. Fast and Furious 8 is eyeing the highest opening weekend number for a Hollywood film in India, a record that is currently held by Fast and Furious 7.
Day wise box-office collection:
- Wednesday: Rs 6.00 crore (Paid Preview)
- Thursday: Rs 9.50 crore
- Friday: Rs 11.50 crore
- Total: Rs 27.00 crore
Begum Jaan, which was the only significant Hindi release of the week has embarked onto a below average start at the box-office. The Vidya Balan film raked in approximately Rs 3.50 crore on Friday.
The opening day collections should have been higher given the partial holiday benefit, however the film was overshadowed by Fast and Furious 8 at major centres of the country.
The all India distribution rights of the film have been sold for Rs 14 crore and it becomes essential for the film to record a good jump over the weekend followed by a good trend to merely break even for the distributors.
