Amy Schumer dismisses rumors of equal pay; says 'they aren't true'
Comedian Amy Schumer has clarified about the reports which stated that she demanded for equal compensation like her co-stars Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle for their roles in Netflix's 'The Leather Special.'
According to CNN, a report claimed that the ' Trainwreck' actress was initially paid about USD 11 million but later went back to the streaming service and negotiated for more fees after learning that her co-stars, comic legends Rock and Chappelle were receiving USD 20 million for the comedy specials.
The 36-year-old actress addressed the rumor on Instagram by posting a topless picture holding a plush hotdog toy.
The post began, "Thanks for chiming in on what you feel I deserve to be paid. I believe women deserve equal pay. However I don't believe I deserve equal pay to Chris and Dave."
"They are legends and 2 of the greatest comics of all time," the comedian stated.
She continued, "I would like to say that I have been selling out arenas these last couple years. Something a female comic has never done" adding, "That's a big deal to me, especially because I know I do my best every night on stage for the audience and they have a good time."
She particularly noted that she didn't ask for equal payments but did ask for more than the initial offer.
"I will continue to work my ass off and be the best performer I can be," she wrote.
Addressing rumors about the report, she clarified that, "The reports of me "demanding" or "insisting" on equal pay to them aren't true."
' The Leather Special' is comedian Amy Schumer's first stand-up special for the streaming-service Netflix. Netflix released 'the special' on March 7, 2017.
