Dungarpur (Rajasthan): Every year on June 21st, International Yoga Day is celebrated to raise awareness about the importance of yoga in maintaining a healthy and disease-free life. This day is considered special as it marks the longest day of the year, also known as the summer solstice. Since 2014, this day has been dedicated to yoga and spirituality. This year, the theme of International Yoga Day is "Yoga for Self and Society."

Yoga is divided into eight limbs, including yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and samadhi, which are practised sequentially, starting with cleanliness and ending with meditation.

In India, Ayush Health and Wellness Centers have been established since 2021, where trained yoga instructors conduct yoga sessions daily. Currently, unhealthy eating habits and irregular daily routines have led to a rise in diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer, and obesity. Practising yoga regularly, along with adopting a healthy lifestyle, can help prevent these diseases.

According to Dr. Abhay Singh Maliwal, Ayurveda Medical Officer and Coordinator, Ayurveda Department, Dungarpur, "Regular practice of yoga, along with following the principles of Ayurveda, can ensure physical, mental, and social well-being, thereby securing the health of individuals, society, and the nation."
