Home-Cooked Meals: The Secret Ingredient for Children's Health

Sagar: To promote healthy eating habits among children, doctors from the district hospital visited the Sanjeevani Bal Ashram in Makronia, Sagar, to educate the orphaned children about the importance of nutritious food.

Dr. Brijesh Yadav, a pediatrician, emphasised the significance of home-cooked meals, stating that they contain essential nutrients that are often lacking in junk food. He advised the children to avoid consuming packaged food items and instead opt for a balanced diet that includes carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals.

The event was organised by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics as part of the Nutrition Month celebrations. Dr. Yadav, along with other experts, answered questions related to food and nutrition and distributed informative materials to the children.

Dr. Yadav highlighted the importance of iron supplements, particularly for adolescent girls, to combat anaemia. He recommended that children between the ages of 5 and 9 take pink iron tablets, while younger children should be given iron syrup. The doctors also emphasized the significance of maintaining personal hygiene and distributed iron tablets and other medicines to the children.

Sanjeevani Bal Ashram's director, Pratibha Arjariya, Dr. Ashish Jain, and other staff members were present during the event.
