Weather update: Heavy rains to lash Himachal, Chhattisgarh, WB, Karnataka, Kerala; checkout latest forecast
The western end of the monsoon trough runs to the north of its usual point while the eastern end runs along the foothills of the Himalayas. A north-south trough runs from southeast Madhya Pradesh to the Comorin area. Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation lies over the Comorin area and its surrounding regions.
Fairly widespread to widespread rain with isolated heavy rainfalls along with thunderstorms and lightning is to be expected over the northeast state of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura in the next two days.
In addition, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls along with thunderstorms and lightning is expected over Konkan and Goa on September 8-9, Gangetic West Bengal on September 5, East Madhya Pradesh from September 5-6, and over Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Andaman & Nicobar Islands from September 5-9. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also expected over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on September 6-7, and over Chhattisgarh and Odisha on September 9.
Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning has been predicted over Telangana, Rayalaseema, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and South Karnataka in the next five days, coastal and North Interior Karnataka from September 6-9, Lakshadweep from September 5-6, and coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on September 8-9. Also, isolated very heavy rainfall is to be expected over Kerala and Mahe begining September 6-8.
Lastly, fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning has been forecasted over Himachal Pradesh for September 5. Shaded rainfall activity will prevail over the plains of Northwest India and over Central India in the coming five days.
