Tiger comes alive again, to beat SRK in his own game

The battle between movies of Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan has always been one of the most headline-grabbing tussles. The performance of their super-hit movies at the box office has been considered a benchmark of their popularity and supremacy in the field.

When Salman starrer Tubelight (released on June 23, 2017)failed to make a mark at the box office, the hold of this superstar was questioned by many movie critics in the country, doubting that his supremacy may never be restored in the industry.

Proving the naysayers wrong, Salman is winning the box office battle from SRK by leaving behind many of the latter's blockbusters far behind in performance within the second week of his mega film– Tiger Zinda Hai. The 9-day box office collection of the movie was enough to kick out SRK's Chennai Express as India's 9th biggest ever global earner. Till Monday, Tiger Zinda Hai global gross collection stood at Rs 455 crore, leaving behind SRK's rom-com Chennai Express that had earned a domestic gross of Rs 301 crore with an addition of Rs.121 crore overseas.

This means that Chennai Express is now shifted to the 10th spot in the list of India’s all-time top 10 global earners, where the movie was placed since its release in 2013. SRK's next movie is scheduled to be launched in December 2018, which means he might be left behind in the league of top 10 films for long. The 2018's much-anticipated movies are likely to take away King Khan's charm as soon as they hit the theaters, including the likes of Akshay Kumar starrer Padman, Rani Mukherji's Hickki, Ajay Devgn’s Raid, Rajinikanth’s 2.0, Salman Khan's Race 3 and finally, Thugs of Hindostan, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif.
