Indian golfer Aditi Ashok: The inspiring Journey of Queen of many 'Firsts'

The game of Rich, Golf is a club and ball sport. A player is supposed to use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes with the minimum number of stokes. The game is most popular among the riches and that's why its is called the game of riches. While the sports has not found popularity in India, yet Indian golfer Aditi Ashok made history by registering her name in the elite club.

 

Only female Indian to represent India in Golf in the Olympics

Aditi is the first female golfer in India. The only Indian woman golfer who represented India in the Olympics, Aditi Ashok was just 18-year-old when she had qualified for the Rio Olympics. Even though at that time she was ranked 439th on the official women's world rankings list. But her ranking did not matter as she competed and impressed those with higher and better ranking.

The Indian golfer created history by becoming the only Indian woman golfer who competed in the Rio Olympics, 2016. In the Olympics Aditi was the youngest contender to participate. Aditi with her performance in the game was not able to win a medal for India but the golfer managed to impress many with her talent. Aditi was even able to make her name on the leaderboard in Olympics. The golfer even managed to lead the game in the first two rounds before falling away in the third.

Aditi Ashok's journey before Rio Olympics

Aditi belongs to Bangalore and had studied in Frank Anthony Public School. Before representing India in golf, Aditi was an amateur golfer. Before planning a career in Golf, the golfer had even managed to create a buzz by becoming the first player from India to win the Ladies British amateur stroke-play championship at Leeds, in 2015.

Before making her name known in the Olympics for India, she had won three-time National Junior Champion respectively in 2014, 2013, 2012 and she was also two-time National Amateur Champion for 2014, 2011.

Not just Olympics but Aditi was also the only player to represent India in the Asian Youth Games (2013)Asian Games (2014) and Youth Olympic Games (2014).

Aditi Ashok was also the youngest to won Tour School at the age of 17. She was the first player to represent India at the Sime Derby LPGA Malaysia in the year 2015. Aditi also becomes the first and only Indian to won LET's Lalla Aicha Tour school in 2016. Aditi becomes the first Indian by winning St. Rule Trophy and Lawson Trophy in 2015.

Aditi Ashok has achieved many first, with her records it seems every time she steps up to play golf, she writes history. Aditi had represented India in the Asia Pacific Invitation tournament at the age of just 12 while the average age in the tournament is 18 and 22.

Now Aditi had qualified for the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship on the LPGA 2017. This is also a notable fact that she is first from India to play in the prestigious meet. The tournament is considered as the toughest in women’s golf. The golfer had also managed to keep her LPGA card for 2018.
