UGC will be replaced by Modi government with this new Higher Education Commission of India
The big reformation will be going to witness in the education system of Indian as Prime Minister Modi-led government will going to replace University Grants Commission (UGC). Yes, Modi government has announced to replace UGC with new regulator for higher education.
According to the reports, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has also framed a draft legislation to repeal the UGC Act, 1956. Besides, the HRD ministry has also asked a public opinion and their suggestions over this decision till 7th July. Reportedly, the new act will be called as the Higher Education Commission of India Act, 2018.
However, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar took to Twitter to share the information with everyone.
Here’s what he wrote on the micro-blogging site:
After this tweet, he also posted some other tweets also in which he described the repeal of UGC with HEC (Higher Education Commission of India).
He said that ‘The draft Act is in accordance with the commitment of govt for reforming the regulatory systems that provide more autonomy to HE institutes to promote excellence & facilitate the holistic growth of the education system.’

Well, Javadekar also appealed to all educationists, stakeholders & others to furnish to give their comments and suggestion by 7th July 2018 till 5 p.m.

As per the reports by Economic Times, the HECI Act, 2018 likely to piloted in Parliament in the upcoming monsoon session.
