Railway Recruitment 2018: What is the reason behind the age reduction from 30 to 28 this year?

Indian Railways has recently (3 February 2018) announced more than 26,000 vacancies for the aspirants which are the huge job opening in Railways for the candidates after 3 years. But this time candidates are not happy with these job openings because of the shocking decision that has been taken by the Indian Railways this year. As you all know that earlier, candidates between the age 18 to 30 years are eligible for the Loco Pilot and Technician categories. But from now onwards the age criteria has been reduced to 28 years from 30 years.

This shocking news has really disappointed the candidates who are preparing for the Railways entrance examination because many of them won't be eligible for the post now. It means candidates who are above or below 28 years might have the last chance to appear for the examination. Earlier, the vacancy for the same was released in 2014 was having the maximum age limit 30 years.

Therefore, 27019 posts in Indian Railways has not been well digested by the aspirants this year. Although this recruitment is considering as the biggest recruitment of the year.

This year the mode of the exam will be Computer based which will be held in the month of April-May 2018. There are no examination fees for SC, ST, Ex-Serviceman, PWDs, Transgender, Minorities, Female, Economically backward class. While the examination fees for the candidates who have to pay Rs. 500. Candidates coming under the purview of fee exemption categories shall have to pay refundable fees of Rs. 250.

While the reason for doing this age reduction is still not revealed by the Railway Board.
