NTA JEE Main Exam 2020: Check out new exam pattern, marking scheme for Paper 1, Paper 2

Aspirants who are going to appear for the Joint Engineering Examination (JEE) 2020 should check some important changes made in the paper pattern, marking scheme.

As JEE Main paper-1 for B.E./B.Tech and paper-2 (for B.Arch/B.Planning) will be held in the computer-based test (CBT) mode.

However, the drawing test for B.Arch and B.Planning will be conducted in pen and paper mode (offline mode).

Check out a new pattern for JEE Main Paper 1 and Paper 2:

According to the new examination pattern, Paper 1 will comprise of multiple-choice questions and numerical questions. Whereas Paper-2 will be held separate for B.Arch and B.Plan aspirants.

Appearing for Paper-1?

Candidates who are appearing for paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) will have to answer 20 MCQs and five-question with numerical value with equal weightage to Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

The marking scheme for MCQs will be four marks for the correct answer and there will be negative marks for incorrect answers. One mark (-1) will be deducted for wrong answer. For newly added numerical value questions there will be four marks for a correct answer and no marks for incorrect answer.

The total mark for Paper 1 exam is of 300 marks. The duration of the exam will be 75 questions including all three subjects.

Appearing For Paper-2:

Candidates applying for B.Arch/B. Planning will have to appear for paper 2.

The paper-2 for B.Arch aspirants will have three parts. Part-1 (Mathematics) of 100 marks with 20 objective types of MCQs. While Part-II or aptitude section will comprise of 200 marks and will have 50 MCQs and Part-III or drawing section will be of 100 maks that will have two questions.

For the wrong attempt, no negative marking will be implied. The total marks for this paper will be 400. The duration of the marks will be for three hours and a total of 77 questions including all three parts.
