CBSE Class 12th Board Exam 2021: Here’s what SC said on Class 12th exam cancellation plea

In the wake of the second wave of coronavirus, students, teachers, and parents have been demanding to cancel the CBSE Class 12th board examination. The Supreme Court of India on Monday (May 31) deferred a hearing in this regard till June 3.

Therefore, the final decision on conducting the CBSE Class 12th Board Exam 2021 and ICSE Board Class 12th board will be announced on June 3.

As of now, the government of India will have to take the final decision in the next two days on whether the class 12th board exams will be held or not amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“No issue. You take the decision. You are entitled to it. If you are departing from the policy of last year, then you must give tangible reasons for it,” the bench told Attorney General K K Venugopal.

The bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari had heard the plea on May 28 and had asked petitioner advocate Mamta Sharma, demands Class 12 board exams be cancelled, to serve the copy of the plea to the counsel representing the CBSE.

“In view of the unprecedented health emergency and rising numbers of the COVID-19 cases in the country, the conduct of examination, either offline or online or blended in upcoming weeks is not possible, and delay in the examination will cause irreparable loss to the students as time is the essence in taking admission in higher education courses in foreign universities,” the plea read.

According to media reports, the Union Education Ministry and CBSE are still reviewing the COVID-19 situation and the decision whether the board exams 2021 should be cancelled or not. The marking scheme for class 12th students on the basis of their previous results of classes 9, 10, and 11 is also being discussed.

Meanwhile, CBSE Class 12th board students should wait for the final decision of CBSE which would be taken before June 3.
