CBSE appoints IAS Manoj Ahuja as new Chairman; all you need to know

In a big bureaucratic reshuffle by the Centre, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has appointed its new Chairman, IAS officer Manoj Ahuja on Tuesday.

Ahuja was among the 19 appointments that have been approved by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet, which is headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Taking the information to Twitter, the Board wrote, “CBSE gets new Chairman Manoj Ahuja, IAS (OR:90), Special Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Department of Personnel and Training.”

 

This reshuffle of bureaucratic has come just after PM Modi concluded his speech on the Coronavirus crisis in the country on May 12.

Besides CBSE’s new chairman Manoj Ahuja, the other important appointment has been done by the government, includes Vasudha Mishra of the Telangana cadre as the new UPSC secretary after Rakesh Gupta retired from the post earlier this year.

While Aarti Ahuja, a 1990-batch officer of the Odisha cadre, has been appointed as an additional secretary to the ministry.

The bureaucratic rejig has been done amid the coronavirus crisis across the country.

All you need to know about CBSE newly appointed Chairman:

1. Manoj Ahuja is a 1990 batch Odisha cadre officer.

2. Currently, he is working as Special Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Department of Personnel and Training.

3. He has replaced Anita Karwal, who has been appointed as Secretary in the Department of Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development in April.

Moreover, Ahuja will now have the biggest challenge to conduct the pending examinations for CBSE Board Class 10 and Class 12 that will be held from July 1 to July 15, 2020. Also, after the completion of the examination, he will have to complete the evaluation process as soon as possible. However, all these are one of the biggest challenges for the new chairman of CBSE in the view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

CBSE Board works under the Secretary, School Education, and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, which is the overall supervision of the controlling authority.
