The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Tuesday night has rescued 39 girls from a hotel in Paharganj area of New Delhi. As per the reports, the girls were trafficked from Nepal. After getting the information, the Commission raided the hotel after they had received a tip-off about several Nepalese girls being kept at the hotel.
"They were kept in the hotel on the pretext of job offers while they were being trafficked to the Gulf countries. Some girls have already been sent to Sri Lanka and we're not able to contact them," Maliwal told ANI.
"He should also give instructions to the Delhi police to stop all rackets of human trafficking" she added.
According to the DCW Chief Swati Maliwal, the girls were trafficked on the pretext of being offered jobs. However, the Women's Commission team of Delhi then conducted the operation along with the Delhi Police. Following the rescue, the girls were taken to the police station.
The chairman of the Women's Commission also said, "73 girls have been rescued in the last week. Five days ago, we have rescued some girls from Delhi's Monirka while on Tuesday we rescued some more from Madangari."
The DCW had earlier rescued 16 Nepali girls from Munirka area on July 25. The DCW chief Maliwal has demanded a thorough investigation in order to bust the racket of human trafficking.
