TERI Sexual Harassment Case: Delhi court orders to charge environmentalist RK Pachauri in sexual harassment case
Delhi's Saket court on Friday has directed to the framing of charges against environmentalist and former Teri Executive Vice Chairman RK Pachauri in a sexual harassment case. RK Pachauri is a former Director General of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). The next hearing in the case is on October 20.
A former female colleague has filed a sexual harassment against Pachauri in 2015. Pachauri has also been accused of stalking and insulting the victim's modesty. A charge sheet against him was filed on March 1, 2016, under the Nirbhaya Act.
After the court's verdict today, the woman said she was "relieved" and "exhausting fighting against the former TERI director. "This has not been easy. This is a big big leap towards the truth. I am relieved and exhausted fighting RK Pachauri," she was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
The Saket court has asked the charges to be framed under Section 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), Section 354A (sexual harassment) and Section 509 (words used to outrage the modesty of a woman).
