This school in Chicago has 44 sets of twins in a single class
The sophomore class at New Trier High school, located just outside of Chicago discovers a whole new meaning as families find 44 sets of twins and one set of triplets in the class of 2020. The Illinois school broke two Guinness World Records.Luke Novosel along with his 15-year-old twin Ryan, discovered the original record and applied for a new one to set a record.
He said, " Though it's not a skill achievement or an academic achievement, it's an achievement nonetheless. The bond which you share with your twin is special but the amazing thing is when you share the same bond with other twins." The parents and their son filled the application form at the starting of the last academic school year but didn't get any reply from Guinness Book of World Records till 18 months after they submitted their paperwork.
The 45 set of twins who set the new record posed for a group photo at their school. Luke said, " The process of finding his own classmates and meeting all of them was no less than a reward. This created a new platform and opportunity to make more friends. Also, it was astonishing to see so many twins on a grand scale."
The Novosel family came to know that New Trier High school was awarded two official achievements. In the school year 2010-2011, it set a record for most multiples in the same year by 18 pairs of twins and two sets of triplets in an eighth-grade class. In the year 2012-2013, a certificate for most twins in the same academic year of Illinois fifth-graders which
included Novosel twins whose efforts led to that certification.
The school boasts a sophomore class of about 1,000 students overall, which includes 19 pairs of girls and 11 pairs of boys. Only three of twins are identical. All the triplets are girls.
Luke's mother is astonished and called it a fluke as it's three times the national average. Usually, 1 in 30 births are twins but in this case, it's 1 in 10 which is extraordinary.
" We have easier access to traditional costly fertility treatment. Most of the college-educated professionals want to establish their children's career. Also, women who tend to wait till they are older to become pregnant have a higher chance to get multiple births. The population of this school is highly educated and affluent community." said Fendley mother of two daughters.
“That’s part of what’s in the water of our community. The demographics of this high school is a highly educated, affluent community,” said Fendley, who also has two younger daughters — who are not twins.
Jenna Dushman said she and her 15-year-old twin brother, Ryan, recalls their middle school having “maybe about 10” sets of twins but neither had any idea they would be starting their freshman year with such an unusual connection to many of their classmates.
Most of the students from the class of 2020 were overwhelmed and happy that they can share the space with so many twins. Jenna Dushman and her twin brother Ryan, remembered Their previous school having not more than 10 twins. They were surprised when they met so many twins in their freshman year. We got a chance to meet so many people because of the world record.
In fact, Jeena was happy that she got a chance to make new friends with whom she can spend time and doesn't meet to explain much to those people as they share a common bond.
