Independence Day 2021: On 15th August 1947 India got its freedom from British rule. This year, India is all set to commemorate its 75th Independence day on August 15, 2021.
The I-day will be celebrated across the nation with much pride, Indians will remember the sacrifice of our freedom fighters for the country’s freedom.
From Mangal Pandey, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Bhagat Singh to Mahatma Gandhi, many leaders fought passionately against the Britishers to set the nation free from their colonial rule.
Amid COVID-19 challenges, all security arrangements including extra precautionary and preventive measures have been made at the Red Fort in Delhi.

Delhi Police have also put up around 15 to 20 containers outside the main gate of the historic monument for security reasons.
August 15 is not just an important day for India, but other countries also got freedom on the same date.
Let’s have a look at the names of the countries that also celebrate their Independence day on August 15:
1. North Korea & South Korea
On August 15, both North Korea and South Korea celebrate their National Liberation Day or Victory Over Japan. Every year, August 15 is celebrated as a holiday in both countries.
On August 15, 1945, Japan’s colonial rule over Korea ended with the Second World War surrender. Later in 1948, Korea was divided into two parts- The soviet-backed North and the US-backed South.
Notably, South Korea is officially named as the Republic of Korea.
2. Bahrain
It is the ancient land of the Dilmun civilization. It gained freedom from the British colonial rules on August 15, 1971. However, Bahrain celebrates its National Day on December 16 to coincide with the day that former ruler Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa ascended to the throne.
The Baharain archipelago had been ruled by many rulers including the Arabs and Portugal, before British colonial rule.
3. Liechtenstein
It is one of the smallest countries in the world that gained independence from German rule in 1866. It celebrates 15 August as its National Day since 1940. On August 5, 1940, the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein officially announced August 15 to be the national holiday of the nation.
4. The Democratic Republic of the Congo
Likewise, India, the Republic of Congo also gained full independence from French colonial rulers on August 15, 1960. Therefore, it also observed its Independence day on August 15.
