Yasir Shah from Pakistan broke this 82 year old Test record against New Zealand
Pakistani leg-spinner Yasir Shah became the fastest bowler to reach 200 Test wickets in just 33 Tests. Shah broke the 82 years old record of Clarrie Grimmett who scalped 200 wickets in 36 Tests. The right-arm bowler achieved the milestone on Day 4 of the ongoing third Test against New Zealand.
Shah is also the fastest Pakistani bowler to take 50 Test wickets in just nine games. Shah took 14-184 wickets in the second Test against New Zealand which is the second best for Pakistan in Tests after the Pakistani Prime minister and former cricketer Imran Khan took 14 wickets for 116 runs in a match against Sri Lanka in 1982.
Shah is also the second fastest to reach his 100 Test wickets in just 17 matches after the English bowler George Lohmann took 100 wickets in just 16 matches.
Pakistan is currently playing a three-match Test series against New Zealand in UAE starting from November 16. New Zealand won by 4 runs in the thrilling first Test match played in Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The second Test was won by Pakistan by an innings and 16 runs in Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the third and final match is still underway in Abu Dhabi.
Yasir also saw a jump in his ICC Test bowler' rankings when he came back to the top-10 list having attained the tenth spot.
