‘Was shocked for first 15-20 seconds’ says, Shubman Gill who replaced KL Rahul in Indian squad post controversies
After the controversies irked over Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul’s ‘sexiest’ comments on women on Karan Johar’s talk show, the duo cricketers have been banned by BCCI for the ODI series against Australia. Following which young two cricketers’ have replaced them from the Indian team squad for New Zealand tour. Shubman Gill, who has replaced Batsman KL Rahul, in the squad for the India’s limited-overs ODI series tour of New Zealand, has to something over his selection in the team.
Notabley, Shubman, who was a key member of India’s U-19 World-Cup victory last year. The young cricketer over getting selected for New-Zealand tour said, "It is a big advantage [to be picked for the New Zealand tour]. I played well there in the U-19 World Cup and now again I have got the opportunity.”
On being informed about his selection in the team, Shubman said "It was late in the night. My heart started beating faster. The messages started pouring in and I rushed to tell my father. It was a special moment.”
“I was shocked for the first 15-20 seconds after news of him being included in India's squad for New Zealand tour broke out. "It was a surprise call-up for me," he added.
Apart from Gill, all-rounder, Vijay Shankar has replaced Hardik Pandya in the squad and will be part of the Indian team during the ODIs in Australia and also tour of New Zealand.
