VVS Laxman celebrates his 45th birthday, ICC wishes him in unique style
As former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman celebrates his 45th birthday today, the International Cricket Council (ICC) made his birthday special by remembering his Test cricket legacy.
On its official Twitter handle, the ICC gave a brief information about Laxman’s Test career and mentioned, "2434 of his Test runs came against Australia, including a marathon innings of 281 at Eden Gardens in 2001, which took India to one of their most spectacular victories! Happy birthday to the legendary VVS Laxman".
The Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) termed the 45 year old as the one of the most stylish batsmen and posted a video clip from his best Test performance of 281 runs against Australia in 2001.
Former cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir also went on to wish VVS Laxman on his birthday and tweeted, Your very very special wrist technique is still my favorite".
The likes of Suresh Raina, Ishant Sharma and Harbhajan Singh also extended their heartfelt wishes for Laxman.
VVS Laxman called it a day from international cricket in 2012. Besides his brilliance in red ball cricket, he amassed 2338 runs in ODIs at an average of 30.76, which includes six hundreds and ten fifties.
Following his retirement, VVS Laxman has been seen as an expert on TV, he is also the mentor for SunRisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
