Virender Sehwag expresses concern over team India's batting approach
India beat West Indies by 125 runs in Manchester on Thursday in a group stage clash of the ICC World Cup 2019, the Indian team were once again troubled by the spinners and Virender Sehwag former Indian opener expresses his concern over India’s defensive batting approach.
"Rashid Khan had gone for 25 in 4 overs, gave away only 13 in his next 6 and today Fabian Allen had given 34 in 5 overs, only 18 in next 5. Can't be so defensive against the spinners," Sehwag tweeted.
Indians are considered to be good players against the spin bowlers but the way they faced West Indies’ Fabien Allen was a little hard to stomach.
The Indian team won the toss and elected to bat first. But Virat Kohli led team India kept losing wickets in quick succession which compelled them to approach a defensive mindset.
Fabien Allen gave away 34 runs in his first overs, but in his second spell he managed to trouble the Indian batsmen with his delivery and he gave away just 18 runs.
The man in blue came under scanner for their approach against Afghanistan in their last match. Both Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav were hugely critisized for their slow batting and not being able to play the spinners.
In the match against West Indies, Kohli and MS Dhoni played some brilliant knocks guiding the men in blue towards 268 runs in stipulated 50 overs.
Virat Kohli scored 72 runs, while MS Dhoni remained notout on 56. Kemar Roach displayed some great skills with the ball taking three wickets for the Windies.
