Virat Kohli's jersey sold for a whopping amount in an auction for Shahid Afridi foundation
Indian Captain Virat Kohli's jersey was fetched for over Rs 3 laks at an auction in London. The money raised by the auction was donated to former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi’s charity group Shahid Afridi Foundation.
Earlier, Indian team had gifted a Kohli's ODI jersy with number 18 and ‘VIRAT’ printed on it to the former Pakistani all rounder Shahid Afridi on his retirement from International cricket.
Indian skipper had a special message for Afridi: “Shahid Bhai, best wishes, always a pleasure playing against you”.
A Pakistan based journalist, Faizan Lakhani, tweeted the picture of the signed jersey and wrote: “Virat Kohli’s shirt, signed by the Indian team, for Shahid Afridi, with a message ‘always a pleasure playing against you’.”
Kohli's ODI jersey had also the signature of Indian players Yuvraj Singh, Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah, Suresh Raina, Pawan Negi, Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, R. Ashwin, Hardik Pandya along with current Indian cricket coach Ravi Shastri, among others.
Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi took it to Twitter and thanks Virat for his support to the foundation, "Thank you @imVkohli for your kind gesture in support of @SAFoundationN. Friends & supporters like you ensure #HopeNotOut for everyone"
Replying to Afridi's tweet Virat wrote on Twitter, "You're most welcome Shahid Bhai.. Wishing you and the @SAFoundationN all the luck for the upcoming events. ☺️ #HopeNotOut"
