Sourav Ganguly says ‘Virat Kohli & Co would have won the Test’ if...

After a close fight in the first Test in Adelaide where team India won by 31 runs, the Indian side was brought down by the host in the second Test in Perth where the visitors were thrashed by 146 runs. Virat Kohli made his 25th Test century with an amazing 123 runs stand in the first innings but the Indian batsmen failed to deliver in the second innings.

Talking about India’s defeat in Perth, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly revealed about a message that he wanted to send to Virat Kohli. Ganguly spoke to a News channel when he said, “I had thought of sending a text to Kohli but I didn’t. I wanted to tell him that you shouldn’t give so many wickets to spinners outside the subcontinent. There is no doubt that Nathan Lyon is a great spinner but so were Shane Warne, Greame Swann and Muttiah Muralitharan.”

“They have shown him too much respect by defending a lot of deliveries outside the off-stump. Instead, I feel they should attack him more and look to build towards at least in excess of 300-350,” Ganguly added.

India and Australia will play their Boxing Day Test match from December 26 to December 30 in Melbourne Cricket Ground. The four match Test series is currently levelled at 1-1 with India winning the first match by 31 runs and Australia the second match by 146 runs.
