Smith and Warner have even earlier tried to tamper the ball says report
Australian skipper Steve Smith was named the best cricketer of the world in Test format recently for the year 2017. The player has emerged as a great batsman in a very short span of time. 29 years old, Steve Smith has been in the news for his exceptional batting skills for past few years.
But things have been quite different from normal since his name came up in the Ball-tampering scandal.
He and vice-captain David Warner along with the youngster Cameron Bancroft have found themselves involved in the scandal. Steve Smith was earlier banned for just one match but when the things started taking turns, the outcome turned out to be quite ugly for Steve Smith and David Warner.
Also, Smith has been banned from leading a team in Australia for 24 months. Moreover, David Warner has been slapped by a life-ban from captaincy.
However, there is a report from Sydney morning herald which has claimed that there have been earlier attempts by these two players relating to tampering the ball. The report also claimed that previous attempts have been suppressed.
The charges being levelled are grave in nature and need further investigation. However, the two have been adequately punished for their misdeed regarding tampering the ball. There have been a lot of criticism surrounding the incident that has led people from the cricket fraternity appealing from the masses to leave the players alone for now.
