For the first time in his international career MS Dhoni criticised by the Indian supporters at the ‘Home of Cricket’ for his slow batting result of this England beat India by 86 runs in the second ODI at Lord’s.
MS Dhoni's this knocked has reminded Sunil Gavaskar of his infamous 174-ball 36* runs against the same opposition(England) at the same venue (Lords) during the 1975 World Cup.
England had posted 334 runs on the board with 6 wickets dwon in 60 overs while India had finished with 132/3. succumbing to a 202-run defeat.
While Dhoni scored 37 runs from 59 balls at Lord's when spectators were hoping from Dhoni to show cast some terrfic shot. Virat Kohli led Indian cricket team could only manage 236 in 50 overs after England posted 322 runs with seven wickets down.
MS Dhoni managed to score 103 runs at a strike-rate of 73.61 in five ODIs innings this year.
In his column for The Times of India, Indian former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar cited that “Dhoni’s struggle was understandable because when confronted with an impossible situation, the options get limited and the mind becomes negative. Then all the good shots go straight to the fielder to add to the dot balls and the pressure becomes too much.”
“Dhoni’s struggle reminded me of my most infamous innings at the same venue,” he added.
