Rohit Sharma’s Test career hasn’t been a notable one so far but when he was furnish with an oppurtuity to open the innings for the men in blue, he left no room for disappointment and went on to smash a century in the ongoing Test match against South Africa.
The 32 year old looked calm and composed as he dominated the South African bowling unit. He stole the thunder with a remarkable 115 on Day one in Visakhapatnam before rain interrupted the play just before the tea after which the play was called off.
Rohit Sharma built an unbeaten 202 runs partnership with Mayank Agarwal. In the following day, Rohit continued to destroy the South African bowlers as he went on to score 176 which included 24 fours and 6 sixes.
Rohit Sharma was allowed to open for team India after KL Rahul and Murali Vijay failed to impress as openers. Hitman was urged to replicate his ODI success as an opener.
Following his scintillating display with the bat, former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar eulogised Rohit Sharma. Shoaib Akhtar disclosed how he saw Rohit Sharma’s actual capability in 2013.
He further added that he had urged Rohit Sharma to add a G, which stands for great, before his name which reads GRS (Great Rohit Sharma) and play like he is the best batsman in India.
