Shane Watson opens up on future of his CSK captain MS Dhoni
Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson believes that his CSK skipper Dhoni is an evergreen cricketer and he just does not age. The all-rounder has been star performer for Chennai based franchise.
All focus now shifts to MS Dhoni as he is set to make his much-awaited comeback to competitive cricket when IPL 2020 kickstarts in the UAE from September 19 and runs until November 10. Dhoni has not been in competitive action since India's exit in the 2019 World Cup semi-final.
"MS still loves playing. He is an evergreen cricketer and it feels like he just doesn't age. Look, with the kind of skills he has and the hard yards he puts in, MS can go on and play into his 40s. MS has been able to manage his body well. The way he is able to run consistently and showcase skills behind the stumps are just incredible. I am a big fan of MS and would want to see him continue playing whether it's for CSK or internationally," Shane Watson was quoted as saying by Times of India.
Watson has won the IPL trophy with CSK in 2018. In last 2019 final against Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians, he was also awarded Man of the Match for his superb 59-ball 80 which went all for nothing as CSK lost the title clash in a close battle.
"It definitely will. The pitches are going to be on the slower side. We have some high-quality spinners in our side and we should be able to capitalize," Watson said about the nature of the pitches in UAE.
"There is no doubt that the Yellow Army will be supporting us from far as they always do. It's going to be a different experience and I will miss the rush that the crowds in Chennai always gave me. Having said that, we are playing for high stakes as the IPL is the best T20 tournament in the world and we have to quickly adapt," Watson opened up on the fan support.
