Sachin Tendulkar suggests ICC the right way to decide winner if super over is a tie
Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has a suggestion for the International Cricket Council (ICC) to decide the winner in future if a super over is tied. Sachin Tendulkar said another super over should be played if the first one is a tie instead of considering the boundaries.
Sachin said, “I feel there should be another super over to decide the winner, instead of considering the number of boundaries scored by both teams. Not just in a World Cup final. Every game is important. Like in football, when teams go into extra time, nothing else matters.”
Not only Sachin but many former cricketers felt that it was a bit unfair to New Zealand as they both scored the same number of runs twice.
England won the World Cup in the weirdest way possible. England beat New Zealand in the final after a nail-biting thriller of two tied games. England was awarded the cup because of their superior boundary count.
The match was a tie as both the teams scored 241 runs reach. A first super over of ODI cricket was played and it ended in a tie as well with both teams scoring 15 runs each.
England won their maiden World Cup title and became the third team in the world to win it at home after India and Australia.
