Rishabh Pant should be dropped down from No.4, says Indian legend VVS Laxman
Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is facing a lot of criticism for his poor shot selection and lack of judgment. Pant has wasted his wicket 8 out of 10 times he has gone down to bat in international cricket. Pant is expected to take MS Dhoni’s place in team India but his careless playing style has got him into trouble.
Latest to join the criticism wagon against Pant is former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman. Laxman has said Pant should be dropped down from No.4 position. The comment came after Rishabh Pant wasted his wicket in both the games against South Africa.
“The nature of Rishabh Pant's batting is that he plays aggressive shots...unfortunately at the international level he is not able to succeed at the number four position,” Laxman said on Star Sports.
“Pant should bat at number 5 and 6, where you have the license to go out and express yourself and at the moment he doesn't know the right method of scoring runs at number 4,” Laxman added.
India lost the third T20I against South Africa by 9 wickets. The three-match T20I series was drawn by 1-1. Proteas skipper Quinton de Kock led his team from the front as he scored an unbeaten 79 runs to seal the win.
